ABSTRACT
Carbon offsets can be a complex topic for US businesses. While most companies in the European Union and other developed countries are bound by the requirements of the Kyoto Protocol, the United States elected not to be a signatory to that agreement. As a result, there is a mix of voluntary and mandatory activity related to carbon offsetting in the US.
