ABSTRACT
An almanac entry for measuring crime is presented. The U.S. Department of Justice administers two statistical programs to measure trends in crime in the U.S. The Federal Bureau of Investigation conducts the Uniform Crime Report (UCR) program to provide statistics for law enforcement administration, operation, and management. The National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) is conducted annually by the Bureau of Justice Statistics through interviews with members of a nationally representative sample of households about their experiences with crime.
