Information on various political developments that took place in Korea in the 20th century is presented. After Japan's defeat in World War II in 1945 led to the withdrawal of its colonial regime in Korea. The Korean Democratic Party was formed in September 1945, it consisted of moderates and conservatives. Elections for the new National Assembly in South Korea were held on May 10, 1948.
