ABSTRACT
The article reports on several papers presented at the 24th Annual Conference of the Association for Consumer Research in Tucson, Arizona on October 10-13, 1996 with a focus on consumer behavior and public health. Topics discussed include social marketing in consumer research, perceived risks of breast cancer and the adoption rate of mammograms, and social marketing of health care for the poor and welfare reform. The article examines the role of marketing strategies in changing health behaviors.
