ABSTRACT
Information about several topics discussed at the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) of the International Labour Organization that was held in Nassau, Bahamas in 2006 is presented. Topics included the promotion of quality shipping in the rapidly growing maritime sector and the evolving realities and needs of an industry that handles 90 percent of the world's trade. It highlights the ratification that made Bahamas the third major shipping country in the world.
