ABSTRACT
In this article the author discusses the African Biological Safety Association's (AfBSA) inaugural meeting held in Nairobi, Kenya from March 8-12, 2010. She says that all of the pre-conference courses covering different topics, including biorisk assessment, waste management and infectious material transportation, were very interactive. She notes that these courses enabled participants to receive international certification and offered a valuable asset to their home institutions.
