ABSTRACT
In this article the author discusses aspects of the U.S. government wanting the country's school districts to prove they can do more with less money before federal aid to education from the U.S. American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is given to states. He notes how the Miami-Dade County public school district in Florida was able to free up money from the central-office budget and reallocate it to schools. Student enrollment and property taxes' influence on school finance are discussed.
