Arnott, Robert D.; Diermeier, Jeffrey; Treynor, Jack
October 2005
Pensions & Investments;10/31/2005, Vol. 33 Issue 22, p12
This article presents several letters to the editor on pensions and investments. The editorial appearing in the October 17 issue of the journal does a disservice to readers by providing a select set of facts to question the credibility of the "Financial Analysts Journal," (FAJ) in publishing an article by FAJ editor Robert D. Arnott and his colleagues. First, publication of an article on fundamental indexation written by Arnott and his colleagues did not violate an agreement that the FAJ and Arnott had mutually accepted in 2004. "The Lancet," the oldest and most influential medical journal in the world, was founded by Thomas Wakley in 1823. The purpose of professional journals is to help their members close the gap between theory and reality, between the abstract and the particular.
