The article presents a study that investigates the relationship between maternal age and the incidence of homosexuality in Great Britain. It calculates the parental age at birth of male patients admitted at Bethlem Royal and Maudsley Hospital between January 1, 1949 and December 1960 with diagnosis of pathological personality, sexual deviation, and homosexuality. The mean maternal age was compared with the expected value from the general population data. The study found out that the mean maternal age is higher than the expected value which is secondary to the shift in paternal age. However, the results did not support the hypothesis that male homosexuality is caused by a biological factor related to mother's age that caused chromosome abnormalities.
