ABSTRACT
The article presents an interview with Bin Hu, general editor of Tianya Community web site. When asked about the history of Tianya Community, he informs that it was founded in March 1999 and was a bulletin board for Hainan Online portal. He informs that the average age of users of the web site is between 20 and 35. He mentions that civil positions, civil discourse and folk wisdom were the main features of the Tianya Community.
