ABSTRACT
An interview with Nick Hurd, Great Britain's Minister for Society, is presented regarding the proposed overall budget cuts and its implications on the British government's promised support to the voluntary sector. When asked about how much funding he will expect from the British Treasury, he says that he is aiming for 40% less than the usual budget allocation. He cites the government's need to reduce its financial deficit as a reason, adding that this would also reduce the sector's dependence on the state.
