ABSTRACT
The article presents an interview with Fruit Chan, one of the most innovative of small band of independent filmmakers in Hong Kong, China. Chan visited Australia as a guest of the 2005 Melbourne International Film Festival, where a show of his work, entitled "Sliced Life: Fruit Chan," attracted most of the viewers. He presents his views on his new film "Dumplings." He told that he and Lilian Lee worked together on the script of "Dumplings." The film is adapted from Lee's work, however, Chan added certain characters according to his views during the scripting process.
