ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the Belgian artist René Magritte and the response to the 1965 exhibition "René Magritte" at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. The article discusses Magritte's art through the genres of Pop art, Surrealism and Dadaism, the identification of Magritte as a "secret agent" by critics due to his appearance and other locations that the exhibition traveled. The article also discusses the work of Magritte's contemporaries including Jasper Johns and Andy Warhol.
