ABSTRACT
This article is an editorial in which the author discusses who should write and illustrate children's books. The author argues that children's book authors and illustrators draw from what they know in order to create the books, and the final result often reflects their own childhood experiences. The author concludes with the belief that great writers and illustrators for children of parallel cultures will, on the whole, come from the members of those cultures.
