The author reflects on the issue on executive remuneration. He comments on the decline in the number and shares of the Australia's 200 wealthiest managers and executives as the direct result of the global economic downturn. He believes that a well-designed share and option packages are the most important ways to adjust and realign the interests of the investors and executives. He suggests boards to give executives fewer short-term incentives and provide them with longer term incentive plans.
