ABSTRACT
The author reflects on the bailout plan of the U.S. government. He argues that the bailout does not mainly benefit the borrowers but the companies who are the main cause of the crisis. He contends that the plan will put the taxpayers' money into risk by financing the ailing corporations, but not benefiting the mortgages of the borrowers. He states that the government has to instill real price competition in the lending industry through using the $700 billion in making direct loans to borrowers.
