ABSTRACT
The author reflects on the effect of the oil price hike on the airline industry. He points out that the industry would have to nearly quintuple its profit in 2008 just to cover fuel expenses. He claims that although U.S. airlines have been hit hardest because of the weak dollar and their general lack of fuel hedges, the effect of the price hike was felt globally.
