ABSTRACT
The author reflects on the economics of the current state of the printing industry. He states that Polestar has announced the closure of Polestar Greaves in Scarborough, England. He mentions that consolidation is inevitable in the British and European printing industry during 2008 and plant closures is one way to ease the pressure on printers. He adds that with margins hovering around the 1 percent mark, the industry needs to tighten its belt in 2008.
