ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the benefits of concealed-carry laws to deter mass murder in the U.S. Based on a comprehensive study of all multiple-shooting incidents in the country between 1977 and 1999, states that allowed citizens to carry concealed handguns decreased multiple shooting attacks by 60% and decreased the death and injury from these attacks by 80 percent. Effort by the Virginia Tech University to prohibit students with concealed-carry permits from carrying their guns is also cited.
