The author reflects on idling reduction technologies that affect the changing conditions of the economy in the U.S. He stressed that his interview with Shawn Wasson, auxiliary power unit (APU) business leader of Cummins has revealed that major retailers could save $26 million by utilizing APU's, replacing idling engines. He believes that significant savings are attainable through practical application of available idle reduction technologies.
