ABSTRACT
The author discusses a study which examined the relative risks that handguns will be involved in the homicide of a law enforcement officer in the U.S. The study used handgun production figures and statistics from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Firearm-related deaths and injuries are considered as public health problems. The study concluded that certain handgun types and calibers are disproportionately involved in criminal homicide.
