ABSTRACT
This article comments on the financial state of the Palestinian Authority (PA) and the efforts by foreign governments and organizations, like the European Union, to prop it up. Hamas control of the PA is set for 2006. Israel insists it will have no contact with the PA, including economic ties, until Hamas renounces violence and recognizes Israel's right to exist. The piece calls for Hamas to make a gesture if it is to receive further funding from foreign governments.
