ABSTRACT
The author discusses the application of images to public health. He states that images are a way of making information meaningful, especially those related to illness and suffering. He claims that images have epistemology and deserve serious attention and it will require sophisticated philosophical discussions concerning what is defined as legitimate knowledge in the scholarship of public health, historical analyses of how the development of images and the development of public health are related.
