ABSTRACT
The article offers information on the Republic of Senegal. The country is bounded by the Atlantic Ocean, Mauritania, Mali, Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau, with a total land area of 196,722 square kilometers. Fifty-eight per cent of its estimated population of 12,643,799 is rural. The assistance given by the U.S. to Senegal for 2011 reached 98.7 million U.S. dollars. Its economy, history, government and political conditions are also discussed.
