ABSTRACT
The article presents a profile of the Republic of Botswana. The country is 582,000 sq. km. in size, with desert and savanna terrain and subtropical climate. The adult literacy, life expectancy and infant mortality rate in Botswana are 81%, 33.9% and 56/1,000, respectively. In 2004/2005, the nominal GDP of the country is $9.2 billion, with agriculture contributing 2.1% of GDP.
