ABSTRACT
The article presents a profile of Kyrgyzstan. As of 2006, its population is 5,213,988 and its annual growth rate is 1.32 percent. Ethnic groups include Kyrgyz, Russian, zbek, Dungan, Uighurs, Tatars and German. Main religions are Islam and Russian Orthodox. The country gained its independence on August 31, 1991 from the Soviet Union. Its gross domestic product in 2006 is $2.8 billion.
