ABSTRACT
The article provides information about the history of Afghanistan. Often called the crossroads of Central Asia, Afghanistan was first invaded by Alexander the Great in 328 BC followed by the Scythians, the White Huns and Turks. It was in AD 642 that the Arabs invaded the entire region and introduced Islam. The Soviet invasion, the aftermath of the Geneva Accords and the rise and fall of the Taliban is discussed.
