ABSTRACT
The article focuses on a dust storm that took place in Panhandle, Texas on April 14, 1935. To some it seemed to be the end of the world. People rushed to church to pray while others stuffed cloth into the cracks under the door and around the windows to keep out the choking dust. Young folk singer woody Guthrie calmly sat down and wrote the classic song, So Long, It's Been Good to Know You.
