ABSTRACT
The article profiles choreographer Alvin Ailey. He was born on January 5, 1931, in the little town of Rogers, Texas. Alley found his way to Los Angeles, California and in his early thirties was not only dancing, but choreographing. In 1958 he formed the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, and his dancing and his dances have thrilled audiences around the world.
