ABSTRACT
This article presents information on the book "Evaluating Mental Health Services for Older People." The book provides a comprehensive account of how this has been achieved in Great Britain and internationally. It offers a historical perspective on the development of services, and comparisons with other countries. The author details her work for Great Britain's Health Advisory Service, where she was involved in developing standards for evaluating mental health care for older people. She also describes the process of achieving valid standards and discusses the importance of their reliability. The book provides an insight into evaluating the structure and delivery of services, but readers hoping to learn how outcomes of care can be evaluated will need to look elsewhere.
