ABSTRACT
Europe, North America and Japan use 70 percent of the world's energy. Fossil fuels are coal, oil and natural gas. They pollute the atmosphere and cause health problems, acid rain and global warming. Renewable energy includes water, waves, wind and sunlight. Nuclear energy uses far less fuel than fossil fuel. Major alternative energy sources are waves, geothermal, tides, wind and hydroelectric power. Solar power could be taken advantage of as an alternative energy source. INSET: STAR FACT.
