ABSTRACT
Chapter XXXIV of the book "Jane Eyre," by Charlotte Bronte is presented. It discusses the preparations made by Jane Eyre and Hannah, the servant, for the return of Diana and Mary at the Moorhouse. It also shows how bookish St. John could get. Despite the persistence of St. John that she should be his wife when she goes with him to India, Jane remained defiant. Consequently, her resistance earned his coldness towards her.
