ABSTRACT
Chapter 8 of the book "Blaming Others" is presented. Although African countries have been constant in their criticisms of the U.S. and Europe over acquired immunodeficiency syndrome or AIDS, Africans have also sometimes blamed ethnic minorities in their own, or in a neighboring country. In South Africa, the disease is sometimes discussed as if there were separate viruses for whites and blacks. The blaming can have negative consequences, whether or not the perception is itself accurate.
