ABSTRACT
The article discusses Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu's response to the fatal abduction of three Israeli youths in June 2014, mobilizing military action against the Hamas and Fatah extremist groups to break up their reconciliation efforts and disintegrate the Palestinian Authority. Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas, also known as Abu Mazen, declared that the abduction intended to destroy his people but maintained security cooperation with Israel, provoking anger among Palestinians.
