The article discusses the efforts of the city of San Diego in California to streamline its processing of development project permits and plans as it faced a rising tide of projects. According to Mayor Kevin Faulconer, the government is changing how the city does business through the Development Services Department (DSD) of San Diego. Matthew Adams of the Building Industry Association of San Diego County notes the significant step toward bringing development services into the 21st century.
