ABSTRACT
The article discusses the remanufacture of a Robbins double-shield tunnel boring machine (TBM) on-site in to shorten the construction time of the Black River Wastewater Tunnel in Lorain, Ohio.. Topics addressed include the shipment of components from various parts of the U.S. and overseas, the role of Super Excavators as Black River's tunneling contractor, and the merits of remanufacturing the TBM on site or ordering a factory-built and factory-tested machine.
