ABSTRACT
The article presents the author's views on the move of U.S. President Barack Obama who signed an executive order expanding federal gun control to prevent gun violence. She states that Obama is using the mental health prohibition of the Federal Gun Control Act of 1968 to confiscate firearms which strips Americans' of their right to own guns. She argues that using psychiatry to prevent gun violence only promotes the belief that mental illness causes violence which is reportedly erroneous.
