ABSTRACT
The article presents a study conducted by the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) on the assessment of emerging regulatory, consumer protection and law enforcement regarding virtual currencies. It mentions the federal financial regulatory and law enforcement agency responsibilities, and actions and collaborative efforts that agencies have undertaken in regard to virtual currencies. The GAO also reviewed federal laws and regulations, academic and industry research, and agency documents.
