ABSTRACT
The article presents information on the growth of the wind power industry in the U.S. in 2012. It focuses on the role of the federal production tax credit (PTC) in the development of the sector. It discusses how the impending expiration of the PTC which was extended in early 2013, encouraged the sector to build wind farms at a record pace. It also focuses on the sector's contribution to total electricity generation in the U.S.
