ABSTRACT
The article discusses the series of ballistic missile defense (BMD) tests conducted by the U.S. Middle Defense Agency (MDA) and the Department of Defense (DoD) which confirm the growing capabilities of the Navy's premier at-sea interceptor. It notes that MDA detected, tracked and intercepted 2 medium-range ballistic-missiles flying simultaneously over the Pacific Ocean on September 9, 2013. It cites the Aegis/SM-3s as a bright spot U.S. BMD efforts that the DoD should take advantage of.
