ABSTRACT
This paper analyzes the perception of Directors from Autonomous University of Sinaloa (UAS) regarding the proposal to modernize the higher education system in Mexico. This topic becomes relevant because it lets see how far the new modernization paradigm is shared and represents the thinking and actions of these Directors, defining the potential for change in its institutional development. To contextualize this study, the organizational change theory developed by March (1979), Barent (1995), Brunet (2003), as well as the work of Clark (1990), Pedroza (2004) and Tejeda (1998), related to higher education and modernization are addressed. The research done by selecting a university typical of Mexico, and using a survey of its Directors, who answered a structured interview. Conclusively, the study sheds that modernizing reform in the UAS proposal even though perfect thinking and acting of die management of the institution, also shows a more ideological positioning of upper management with respect to the critical attitude and analyzing of controls media and directors of schools and colleges.
