ABSTRACT
The article presents information on the credit market in China. The country's banking sector is dominated by state-owned banks, which four of these banks account for about 55 percent of total banking assets at the of 2005. Despite reforms implemented in the past decades, it is stated that the sector is still showing low efficiency. According to the article, state-owned banks in the country are inefficient when it comes to extending credit to the private sector.
