ABSTRACT
The article discusses several spiritual reflections provided by president Jean Koehler of the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) on the eve of new year. He said that the board passed motions to make the membership-application form less daunting to newcomers and to establish an official definition of "retired" membership status. The board voted to allow licensed counselors to be eligible for "sex councilor" certification. The board also clarified that current sex counselors who were functioning as psychotherapists and therefore slated to be automatically grand fathered into "sex therapist" certification status may electively retain "sex counselor" status if desired. The Certification Steering Committee recognized that face-to-face interaction is an important part of learning as sexuality professionals. The Council of Associations for Sexual Science, Health, and Education has officially evolved into The North American Federation of Sexuality Organizations. The AASECT board voted unanimously to join this new organization, which was formed to increase cooperation and collaboration among sexuality organizations in North America. The president hopes that despite differences in people's spiritual or religious beliefs each one of them takes some time to enjoy their family, friends and their faith during the holiday season and contribute to peace in their own ways.
