A. ICC Prosecutor Opens Investigation into War Crimes in Mali

The article focuses on the investigation formally opened by International Criminal Court (ICC) Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda on January 16, 2013 concerning the alleged crimes committed in Mali since January 2012. According to Prosecutor Bensouda, her office has determined an ongoing non-international armed conflict in Mali as of around January 17, 2012. It adds that the crimes committed in Mali include murder, mutilation, and torture.
