ABSTRACT
The article informs that the prospective payment system of the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will decrease in January 2013. It states that the CMS has estimated an inflation update of 2.5 percent but the recent market data shows an update of 2.3 percent as the U.S. Affordable Care Act mandates a one percent reduction to that market basket inflation update. It also presents a table which lists the final 2013 amounts for low utilization payment adjustment (LUPA).
