ABSTRACT
The article reports on the pressure faced by nonprofit hospitals and healthcare systems in the U.S. in finding more donors. Such hospitals and systems raised a record 8.9 billion U.S. dollars in donations in fiscal 2011, but various sources of income have dried up. According to Association for Healthcare Philanthropy president William McGinly, donations have recovered despite the continuing poor U.S. economy.
