ABSTRACT
This article discusses the factors that influence student use of information technology (IT) at the Federal University of Technology in Owerri, Nigeria and the Niger Delta University in Amazoma, Nigeria. Topics include the differentiation between IT and information and communication technology (ICT) as it pertains to use of online information resources, issues plaguing the development of sustained ICTs in developing countries such as the reliance on foreign exchange for supplies and the lack of library and information standards, and the need for course credit allotment to user education of library and information technologies to increase student computer literacy rates.
