The article focuses on possible ways to adapt wheat, rice, and corn, which together account for 60 percent of the world's calories, to global climate change. Wheat can be adapted to an increasingly unpredictable climate through developing many different strains adapted to particular hardships. Rice plants can be bred with weeds that can process carbon dioxide efficiently, and corn can be replaced with a variety of more nutritious and efficient food sources such as chickpeas and peanuts.
