ABSTRACT
The article examines the potential of renewable energy for becoming the primary technology choice for baseload power generation in the U.S. Statistics are provided on coal and nuclear generating capacity. A realistic approach is suggested, which involves building a solid baseload portfolio of coal, nuclear and natural gas plants, supplemented with green technologies.
