ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the need for the Canadian government to take part in Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design Green Building Rating System (LEED)-accredited building construction. It says that the private sector has mainly led the said developments, while the government has little to do with greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation efforts. It cites some local governments which are working out with its lack of regulations such as Kingston, Ontario, Victoria and Whistler, British Columbia.
